Wellness Care
Wellness Care is Self Care
When you think of your overall wellness, you may think that some discomfort is simply a part of aging – nothing could be further from the truth.
If you feel good, but not great, chances are your daily actions and choices are impacting your health. From what you consume to how you sit, every single activity plays a role in your wellness.
Science and research show us that one of the secrets to lifelong wellness is protective care. Our bodies are chronically adapting to our environment and usually respond in physical, and often, painful ways.
Spinal Care
“How am I supposed to take care of my spine?”
Your body communicates with itself via its nervous system, and those nerves originate in the spine. Think of it as getting disconnected from someone while talking on the phone.
If something interrupts the transfer of information from your spine to your leg, you would want to correct it to ensure mobility.
Chiropractic care works to restore these pathways by alleviating the misalignment that causes the interference. By doing so, patients often feel more upbeat, get sick less often, and experience an overall improvement in their health and attitude.
Symptom Relief
Pediatric Care
Pediatric Chiropractic Care
You may be surprised to learn that children often need chiropractic care, but their bodies undergo a great deal of stress during the growing years, and some spinal problems occur during childbirth.
Unlike adults, infants, and children can’t convey what they’re experiencing. Crying can be related to any number of things, but being attentive to the way your child sleeps, crawls, walks, and sits may reveal their attempts to alleviate pain.
Also, children occasionally fall or get injured while playing. And as they get older, some of the most basic things, such as carrying a backpack to school or toting sports equipment back and forth to practice, can lead to injury. Even sitting in front of the television or computer can lead to postural issues that require attention.
Just like you, a child’s blood flow, growth, and brain function are all dependent on a healthy nervous system. When any of these systems fail to operate properly, your child’s development, health, and even behavior can be impacted.
Signs and Symptoms
It can be difficult to know if your child is in pain, especially if he or she hasn’t learned how to communicate discomfort. But there are things you can watch for:
- Crying, especially after you’ve exhausted the normal causes
- Grumpiness
- Behavioral outbursts
Spinal misalignment may also contribute to colic or ear infections in young children and ADHD in older children.
How Do You Treat Children?
When treating children, I always conduct a thorough examination to see what the best course of action is if any. You may be concerned about your child’s ability to communicate, but I am very patient and work hard to determine what the source of the pain may be before beginning treatment.
Pregnancy Care
Chiropractic Care for Pregnancy
Pregnancy puts pressure on the vertebrae and joints and often triggers unwanted side effects, such as back pain, leg cramps, sciatica, and stress. As the baby grows, the body tries to accommodate it, but it’s not always easy.
When your center of gravity changes to support your growing baby, your back, pelvis, and other joints can become compressed. And when the nerves traveling to those areas get irritated, pain results.
If you’ve had low back pain in the past, pregnancy can trigger it again. And in some cases, the spine does not return to its normal healthy self after pregnancy, which can make caring for your newborn and other daily tasks painful.
Luckily, chiropractic care can alleviate symptoms during pregnancy, and many women report easier childbirth thanks to their treatment. I offer safe chiropractic health care throughout pregnancy as well as afterward.
You’ll receive a thorough examination and a customized treatment plan based on your specific needs and concerns. For some women, pre-delivery treatment means less pain during delivery (and less pain medication), which can make labor (and recovery) easier.
